Downtown Malone

Downtown Malone’s rich history is evident in its historic buildings and location along the Salmon River. Like many small communities, Downtown Malone has suffered from decades of disinvestment and the presence of a state highway that has prioritized traffic flow over place-making. However, Downtown Malone is experiencing a resurgence.

New businesses are opening. The New York State Department of Transportation recently completed Pedestrian Action Safety Plan improvements that have slowed traffic along Main Street and made Downtown a more comfortable place to walk and gather. Community events such as concerts in Arsenal Green continue to grow.

Recently completed design guidelines encourage building renovations that preserve and enhance important architectural features. And the Village of Malone, with its community partners, continues to identify and implement priority public and private projects that will contribute to revitalizing Downtown Malone.
