Free Entrepreneurship Workshop: An Opportunity for New Businesses in Northern New York
Saranac Lake, NY (08/19/2022) Point Positive, Inc. and Clarkson’s Shipley Center for Innovation will continue their annual Point Positive 101 workshop series for entrepreneurs in the Saranac Lake area on Wednesday September 7th. This evening workshop will provide a valuable learning opportunity for anyone interested in starting their own business and for those that are already building a company. Participants will receive an introduction to new entrepreneurship tools that provide invaluable guidance to early-stage startups, take part in a variety of breakout sessions led by experts, and have a chance to win up to $500 for their business.
This workshop, which will be held at The Carry beginning at 4:00 pm, is being organized in collaboration with the Adirondack Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA), the North Country Chamber of Commerce, the Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Canton Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Franklin County Economic Development Corp. (FCEDC).
In addition to this in-person support, participants will also be invited to access a new online entrepreneurship training program being offered by Clarkson University that provides entrepreneurs with a foundation of knowledge to succeed in launching a new business. The program, Clarkson Entrepreneurship Training, will be offered free of charge to New York State Residents. The courses are completely online and asynchronous, meaning participants can engage with the material at a time and place of their choosing.
Most importantly, those who come to all or part of this workshop will have the opportunity to connect with resource partners and peers that can assist and support them throughout the development of their new venture. Experts will be available to offer help on topics like finding customers, marketing, and raising and managing money. The workshop will conclude with a networking / social hour and opportunities for additional one-on-one meetings. Food and drinks will be provided.
This event is part of a series of workshops led by staff from Clarkson University’s Shipley Center and Point Positive. The first workshop was recently held in Carthage on August 17th, and additional workshops will take place in Plattsburgh (8/24), and Ogdensburg (8/31). This workshop series is made possible by the generous support from Adirondack Foundation and New York State’s Innovation Hot Spot program.
