As we step into 2025, let’s take a moment to reflect on what economic development truly means for Franklin County and why local efforts are at the heart of everything we do.
Economic development isn’t just about data points or policy decisions—it’s about improving the quality of life in our communities. And for that to happen, the work must be deeply local, driven from the ground up.
Too often, national and state-level initiatives meant to solve big issues dominate the conversation. While these programs address broader issues, they often overlook the unique challenges of rural communities like ours. More importantly, they miss the chance to create real, tangible impacts—helping a small business add an employee, turning an idea into a thriving enterprise, or revitalizing a neighborhood corner by corner.
That’s where grassroots economic development shines. Supporting 50 small businesses that create 50 jobs builds resilience. Even if some businesses face challenges, the overall fabric of our community remains strong. Compare that to relying on a single large employer: if it leaves, the impact can be devastating.
This is why, at the Franklin County Economic Development Corporation, we’ve committed to strengthening our economy by championing small businesses, empowering community leaders, and investing in local innovation. It’s a philosophy that prioritizes relationships, celebrates local successes, and builds an economy that can adapt and thrive no matter what comes our way.
We’re proud of the partnerships we’ve fostered and the progress we’ve made together. But there’s so much more to achieve. As we look ahead, your ideas, input, and collaboration are important.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s work together in 2025 to create a stronger, more resilient, and distinctly local Adirondack Frontier.
