Downtown Chateaugay Revitalization
Franklin County Economic Development Corporation Secures $371,250
in NYMS Funding for Downtown Chateaugay Revitalization
Franklin County, NY – The Franklin County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded $371,250 in funding through the New York Main Street (NYMS) Program to support a transformative mixed-use building renovation project in downtown Chateaugay. This significant investment will enhance the vitality of the community by revitalizing a key property and strengthening the economic landscape of the village.
The awarded funds will be allocated to the renovation and upgrade of a downtown anchor property located at 151 West Main Street, on the corner of Main Street and River Street, in the Village of Chateaugay. This project aims to bolster the local economy, improve housing availability, and provide enhanced commercial opportunities in the heart of the village.
Project Scope & Impact
The planned renovations will contribute to the economic resurgence of Chateaugay by modernizing a key mixed-use building. The project will result in:
- Two newly renovated residential units, increasing housing options in the village.
- A revitalized building that enhances the aesthetic and historic character of downtown Chateaugay.
“As a lifelong resident of Chateaugay with deep family roots in the community, I have always loved this building and believe it is important to preserve this local landmark,” said property owner Dale Earl. “With support from New York State and FCEDC, we now have the opportunity to create accessible housing units and welcome a new commercial tenant, ensuring this building remains a vital part of our downtown.”
Village of Chateaugay Mayor Matthew Clarke praised the project. “We are so pleased that this beautiful and historic building will receive the investment it deserves as a landmark in our community.”
“The investment through the NYMS Program will have a lasting impact on Chateaugay’s downtown,” said Jeremy Evans, CEO at FCEDC. “By rehabilitating this key property, we are not only preserving the charm of Main Street but also fostering economic growth, creating opportunities for local businesses, and improving housing options for residents.”
The NYMS Program, administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal, supports projects that stimulate downtown revitalization and promote economic development through targeted building improvements. By leveraging these funds, FCEDC continues to drive forward initiatives that contribute to a thriving and resilient Franklin County.
