Frontier Fact: 209 Megawatts Daily

The Adirondack Frontier generates over 209 megawatts of clean energy daily.

With 184 megawatts of wind, 15 megawatts of solar, and 10 megawatts of hydropower generation already in place, and more on the horizon, Franklin County is helping New York achieve its bold climate goals.

Here are some of the projects that are transforming our county into a leader in clean energy production:

Solar.

Electricity generated from these projects is sold directly to residential and commercial customers, ensuring that everyone can have access to locally-produced solar power, regardless of their ability to install solar panels on their own property. Explore these initiatives here:

Hydropower.

In addition to solar energy, Franklin County is also harnessing the power of small-scale hydropower producers. New York allows electric customers to purchase a share of the electricity generated by small renewable generators. One such local business, North Power and Light, is dedicated to assisting customers in purchasing locally-produced hydropower. Discover more about their services:

Wind.

The towns of Chateaugay and Bellmont are pioneers in utility-scale wind generation development. Dozens of wind turbines dotting the landscape harness the natural force of the wind, generating electricity. Learn more about these important contributors to New York’s clean energy portfolio:

By harnessing the potential of solar, hydropower, and wind energy, we are not only fostering economic growth but also ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. Join us on this transformative journey as we pave the way towards a cleaner and more prosperous Adirondack Frontier.

Let’s Grow!
