Launch of the Energize Uptown Fund

Village of Tupper Lake and Franklin County Economic Development Corp. Launch the Tupper Lake Energize Uptown Fund

Tupper Lake, NY – The Village of Tupper Lake and the Franklin County Economic Development Corp. (FCEDC) are thrilled to announce the launch of the Tupper Lake Energize Uptown Fund (Energize Uptown), an initiative that will provide matching grants for interior and exterior building improvements, site upgrades and enhancements, as well as business assistance. The village was awarded $600,000 through the Tupper Lake Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) for the project. FCEDC will administer the fund on behalf of the village. This transformative endeavor will leverage both public and private funds, resulting in an investment of over $750,000 in the vibrant community of Tupper Lake.

Energize Uptown establishes a fund for matching grants, aimed at facilitating the enhancement of commercial and mixed-use properties within the Uptown District. The Energize Uptown Fund opens up opportunities for property owners, business owners, entrepreneurs, and non-profit organizations to apply for funds allocated for interior and exterior building improvements, site upgrades and enhancements, as well as business assistance. Eligible activities include:

  • Interior and exterior building renovations for commercial, e.g. façade/storefront renovations, interior fit-out, HVAC, MEP, and other permanent building improvements. Permanent landscape installations to improve sense of place are eligible, if ancillary to the building renovation project.
  • Interior and exterior improvements to support adjusted business practices, e.g. pick-up windows, outdoor seating areas and patios.
  • Permanently affixed signage, awnings and planter installations; painting; and lighting that contribute to the downtown’s sense of place.
  • Permanent commercial machinery and equipment

Paul Maroun, Village of Tupper Lake Mayor said, “This is a great opportunity for Tupper Lake and we can’t wait to see what creative and positive projects are awarded funding through the Energize Uptown Fund.”

Jeremy Evans, the CEO of FCEDC said, “The Energize Uptown Fund was developed with flexibility and scale in mind. Projects that may not have qualified for direct DRI funding may be a perfect fit for this program. We are excited to help put this DRI funding to work to benefit the Tupper Lake community.”

Applications for the Energize Uptown Fund will be accepted until 5 PM on August 15, 2023. For further details about the Tupper Lake Energize Uptown Fund, including the application, application instructions, and fund guidelines, please visit the FCEDC website at https://adirondackfrontier.com/downtown/main-street-program/
