Franklin County Economic Development Corporation Secures Grant
for Downtown Saranac Lake Streetscape Design Guidelines

Saranac Lake, NY – The Franklin County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC), in partnership with the Village of Saranac Lake, has been awarded $19,000 through the New York Main Street (NYMS) Technical Assistance Program. This funding will support the development of comprehensive streetscape design guidelines for Downtown Saranac Lake, a key initiative identified in the Saranac Lake Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Strategic Plan.

The new guidelines will establish a cohesive and visually appealing streetscape that enhances accessibility, safety, and reflects the unique character of the Village. The project will address crucial public realm elements, including:

  • Sidewalks
  • Lighting
  • Signage
  • Landscaping
  • Public Art
  • Street Furniture

The FCEDC will oversee project administration, consultant management, and stakeholder coordination, while the Village of Saranac Lake will contribute matching funds and play a key role in implementing the final guidelines once approved by the Village Board of Trustees.

FCEDC has a strong track record of managing NYMS and DRI grants, having successfully administered three NYMS grants, including one technical assistance grant. With a team of experienced professionals, FCEDC is committed to leveraging resources and expertise to advance local revitalization efforts, strengthening the economic and aesthetic appeal of Downtown Saranac Lake.

“This project represents a major step forward in achieving the vision for a vibrant, accessible, and welcoming downtown,” said Jeremy Evans, FCEDC CEO. “We are excited to collaborate with the Village of Saranac Lake and our local stakeholders to enhance public spaces and support long-term economic vitality.”
